How did you get started in fitness?
I have always been active growing up. I played soccer, ran cross country, and was a varsity pole vaulter in track in field in high school. I did not start lifting seriously until about 2 years ago when I decided to enter in my first NPC Bikini competition and happily took home two 1st place trophies! I wanted something to keep my motivation up and a bikini competition was perfect for me!
How do you stay motivated in your career?
For me it is easy to stay motivated because I work out and eat well for my health first, image second. My health and wellbeing are more important to me then anything and I want to be that witty, 100 year old woman running around without a cane. I keep myself motivated by wanting to be my best self every day.
What was your biggest challenge in your fitness journey?
I think the biggest challenge for most is to not to get obsessive about a number on the scale or an ideal look. Fitness is about being healthy and that also includes mental health! I catch myself pushing too hard in the gym sometimes and I am still learning to listen to my body and what it needs… If that is a week of rest then so be it.
What’s your favorite music to workout to?
I love house music! It gets me pumped and ready every time.
What’s your favorite cheat meal?
I’m not much of cheat meal person… I eat very clean all the time and choose to reward myself with organic nut butters and homemade sweets made with stevia. When I eat “unclean” foods (which is close to never), I feel sluggish and don’t feel my best after so I just choose avoid it. I eat for nourishment first and taste second.
What does your typical week in the gym look like?
I work out 4 or 5 days days a week. Still learning what my body responds best too but I start off with lower body, upper body, rest day, lower body, upper body. I like this schedule because its easy to remember.
Which female fit celebrity’s physique do you admire the most?
Paige Hathaway and Justine Munro! Both are gorgeous inside and out, very strong but feminine, and have amazing figures. They work hard and kick butt and I respect them for that.
What does your supplement schedule look like?
The only supplement I take are my BCAAs on training day. I don’t like putting unnatural, flavored, artificial, weird ingredients in my body so I choose the bare minimum and keep it as simple and clean as possible. I believe in getting all the nutrients and calories from natural foods.
What are you most proud of?
Very recently I was told by a photographer that I am not “corrupted” like many models he has worked with over the years. If thats true, then that is what I am proud of! Fitness models and models in general can be very self consumed. I love being the one that is easy to work with, has a great attitude, and has fun even at the end of a 12 hour day shooting.
What’s next for you?
Pursuing what keeps me happy and healthy! My fitness modeling career.
Do you have any advice or inspirational words for someone who is aspiring to get into the fitness world?
I feel like I’m still new so it sounds weird to give advice! But I guess what has helped me is to work hard, keep your expectations low, and be humble. Be nice to everyone and take chances if you get a good feeling about something. So many of my opportunities have come from just being kind and easy to work with!
Looking forward to shooting with @hashtagnaz again next week!
