Caitlyn Bellamy – Fitness Model Interview

How did you get started in fitness?

I attended my first fitness show 6 years ago to watch my mother compete at age 48, I thought hey if she can compete I can, I hired a trainer and trained for one full year before competing in my first show the following year. Since then I have competed in 10 competitions and have been published in numerous fitness magazines around the world.

How do you stay motivated?

I am always setting goals for myself, whether it is a show, a photo shoots or simply just wanting to look good on a vacation. I find it a lot easier to stay on track with my diet and workout if I am working towards something.

What does your diet consist of?

I eat the typical clean 6 meals a day with a mixture of lean protein, healthy fats, a serving of fruit and complex carbohydrates. My diet doesn’t differ too much from contest to off season besides a slight increase in carbs or taking my fruit out a few weeks before a contest. I like to stay fairly lean year round so I am able to do photo shoots with short notice.

What’s your favorite music to workout to?

My taste is pretty eclectic. If you picked up my IPod you would find everything from techno, country, some metal and even a few oldies. My musical tastes change with my mood.

What supplements would you use/recommend if any?

What body part are you most proud of?

My abs! After 2 babies I still have a six pack. It was a lot of work but in the end totally worth it.

What’s the best part about being a fitness competitor?

Making new fitness friends! I have always found it tough to find girls that are into to health and fitness and not wanting to party all the time. I would way rather meet up with my friends and go for a run then sit around and drink wine.

What’s your favorite cheat meal?

Well it was ice cream until I recently found out I am allergic to dairy- what a bummer! So I would say any sort of trail mix with dark chocolate mixed into it or candy. I have a major sweet tooth.

What are your 3 favorite exercises?

Squats, Incline Leg press and Dead lifts- Legs are my strongest body part so any exercise that I am able to lift a hefty amount of weight makes me feel powerful. Strong girls are sexy!

Which female fitness model’s physique do you admire the most?

There are so many female fitness models that inspire me but one that always looks amazing on and off season is Julie Bonnett. She works hard year round to stay lean and that takes an incredible amount of work and dedication.

What are you most proud of?

I am proud that I have stayed healthy and fit after having 2 kids. Lots of women think that they will never have the body they once did after they have children but that is not the case. I am a great example of someone who continued a fitness regime while pregnant and got my pre-baby body back fairly quickly after the birth of my kids. Of course they are always different situations where women are not able to work out during their pregnancies but, if you are healthy there is no reason to put your healthy life style on hold while you are expecting.
